On Friday, October 28, 2011 the second annual
ZombAid Lafayette will be held
in downtown Lafayette as well as the Levee area in West Lafayette. This year, we're teaming up with
Greater Lafayette Commerce to combine ZombAid with
Operation Trick-or-Treat!
The goal of
ZombAid is to collect non-perishable food donations for
Food Finders Food Bank, Inc, a local non-profit organization
that addresses food needs and hunger-related issues for Tippecanoe and 15 surrounding counties in
mid-north Indiana. All donations collected will benefit Food Finders’ fall food drive,
Drive Away Hunger.
Food Finders works directly with
Feeding America, the nation's
largest domestic hunger-relief charity. Each year, the Feeding America network provides food to more than 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.
Join us in October to help these great organizations!
In an effort to collect food and have fun, we're inviting everyone in the community to dress
like a zombie and roam the greater downtown area! We'll be asking local businesses to collect non-perishable
food items from their customers and place them in containers marked "BRAINS" along the zombie-parade route.
The
ZombAid zombies will collect these items, and take them to our collection point at the end of
Main Street near Riehle Plaza. We will be hosting an outdoor after-party event
featuring live music!
In addition, kids are invited to participate in Operation Trick-or-Treat - a fun and safe way to get in the spirit by trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses prior to the zombie walk!
